Le Chateau is seeking an enthusiastic and capable Houseman to manually set up, break down, and service all of our event spaces. This is an outstanding opportunity to work in a beautiful and modern facility and to grow with a local business.

This is an hourly position with the potential of up to 40 hours in the peak season (May - November).

Working closely with the General Manager and Maitre D’, the Banquet Houseman will:
• Supervise and conduct the setup, breakdown and/or reset of event spaces, according to the Banquet Event Order instructions.
• Conduct quality checks on condition of tables, chairs and linens while setting the room.
• Maintain organized storage and inventory of all tables, chairs, linens and other building/maintenance supplies.
• During course of setup or breakdown, maintain proper care of equipment. Do not cause any damage to doors, walls, doorways, flooring, etc.
• Supervise and conduct the detailing/cleaning of event spaces before, after and in between each function.
• Ensure that high quality and cleanliness standards of the entire facility and grounds are met, at all times.
• Develop checklists and cleaning schedules to ensure proper cleanliness and maintenance of all “front of house” event/public spaces, and all “back of house” spaces throughout the facility.
• Routinely check for and report any maintenance issues throughout the entire facility, so they can be corrected prior to events.
• Assist in taking inventories, purchasing necessary supplies, and controlling their distribution.
• Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

The right candidate will have the opportunity to grow with this position, and ultimately oversee a team of support staff. In this role, the Houseman will also interview, train, schedule, supervise, counsel and evaluate staff.

Hours

Requirements

    • Ability to follow instructions from managers.
    • Reliable and consistent attendance – must have reliable transportation.
    • Willing to work a variety of shifts and schedules, including weekends.
    • Ability to read, understand and complete written instructions, and to follow the Banquet Event Order directions very clearly.
    • Ability to work independently, and in a team environment.
    • Ability to meet physical requirements; heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, etc.
    • Ability to complete assigned tasks on time and without close supervision.
    • Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times – with building staff and event guests.
    • Ability to perform basic handyman tasks, such as painting, plumbing and carpentry.
    • Ability and willingness to pass a drug screening and background check.
    • Similar previous experience preferred.

    Le Chateau is looking for an energetic and experienced individual to join our Events Team.

    As a Banquet Captain, you will act as a right hand to our Director of Banquets and help to supervise the setup, execution and tear down for our catered events. A key member of our FOH team, you will make sure that the tables are decorated correctly, the food is well presented, and service goes off without a hitch. You will help the Director of Banquets to supervise the waitstaff, making sure that they are in uniform and providing exceptional service to our guests. You will also be a liaison to the Chefs and culinary staff, keeping them informed of timelines and service needs.

    This is a new venue opening – we are hiring now for work that will start in late September / early October.

    Hours

    This position will average 20 - 30 hours per week, and primarily requires availability on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

    Requirements

      • At least 2 years in a catering/banquet service position in a full-service banquet facility, resort or hotel.
      • High school diploma is required; college/culinary degree is helpful.
      • Knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations and etiquette.
      • Ability to lift and carry up to thirty (30) pounds at a time.
      • Ability to perform various activities such as constant standing, walking, frequent bending, reaching, kneeling and squatting.
      • Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
      • Ability to work well with people in a team environment.
      • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment, under short time constraints and within established deadlines.
      • Certification in an Alcohol Awareness Program or willingness to be certified in an Alcohol Awareness Program.

        • Prior waitstaff or customer service experience in a restaurant, hotel or country club setting is preferred but not required. We will provide training.
        • Weekend availability required; as well as some holidays; year-round availability is preferred.
        • Professional, outgoing and friendly demeanor.
        • Comfortable interacting with customers and co-workers.
        • Ability to learn and obtain new information in a fast-paced setting.
        • Reliable transportation.
